CFK meets with Santiago del Estero governor-elect Abdala in Olivos

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner today met with governor-elect of Santiago del Estero, Claudia Ledesma Abdala, after the wife of current incumbent Gerardo Zamora obtained a convincing victory during elections held in the province.

Abdala, running for the Kirchner-allied Civic Front, took 63.45 percent of the vote in yesterday's polls, making her the overwhelming choice as Zamora's successor.

Her husband and vice-governor José Neder were also present in the meeting, which took place in the presidential residence in Olivos.

The audience lasted roughly an hour, according to government sources.

On proclaiming victory yesterday evening, Abdala reaffirmed the Civic Front's alliance with the national government.

The governor-elect, who will become the second female leader of the province, after Mercedes "Nina" Aragones, stated that she would "continue to accompany unconditionally president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.
