Carrió renews impeachment demand against Lorenzetti
Although Supreme Court judges have firmly ratifyied their full support to Ricardo Lorenzetti and rejected Elisa Carrió's 'pact' accusations, the UNEN opposition MP seems determined to move forward with the impeachment demand against the tribunal’s head.
In statements to the ámbito.com news website, UNEN legislator Fernando Sánchez confirmed Carrió will lodge a formal complaint to parliament and courthouse denouncing what she has been long describing as a “spurious pact” between the Cristina Fernández de Kirchner administration and Ricardo Lorenzetti to secure the constitutionality of the Broadcast Media Law.
Joined by other opposition lawmakers, Carrió fiercely questioned the meetings Lorenzetti had allegedly held with state secretary Carlos Zannini in which the officials –according to the UNEN deputy-, had “sealed” the declaration of the media law constitutionality the Supreme Court officially ruled last week.
This is not the first time Elisa Carrió takes her "spurious pact" statements to headlines. When the Congress debated the government-sponsored Justice Democratization project, the opposition lawmaker also referred to a "spurious pact" between the Supreme Court head and the President herself to get the judicial reform congressional approval as well as judicial support.
