BA students back to school on March 5
Classes in the Buenos Aires province will start on March 5, governor Daniel Scioli confirmed today affirming his government will “prioritize" the 190-day school calendar as well as "tourism" in the provincial coast area.
“In tune with what the Federal Education Council has resolved, the priority is to guarantee the 190 days of classes and, at the same time, harmonise the school calendar with the economic, touristic and social activity in the different districts of the province,” Scioli announced in a statement released by the provincial administration.
The government’s decision comes after business sectors from the Buenos Aires province coast districts questioned the possibility of setting the beginning of classes on February 26.
“Union, business and trade sectors have supported the demand to defend the right of workers. If school started on February 26, soon there will be the Carnival celebrations. We find it unnecessary to interrupt holidays for such little time,” the head of the Tourism Municipal Office of the Buenos Aires province city of Mar del Plata Pablo Fernández had said.
