Rossi praises Junta-era finding as 'historic'
After announcing the discovery of dictatorship-era documents yesterday, Defence Minister Agustín Rossi pointed out the finding was a result “not of a judicial order but the decision of an Air Force chief.”
“It is the first time that we have found documents following the information (provided) by one of the chiefs of the Armed Forces, in this case of the Air Force chief, brigadier Mario Callejo,” Rossi said as he praised the “historic and judicial” value of the 1500 box files containing military leadership certificates referring to the 1976-1983 bloody regime that kidnapped, tortured and killed 30,000 in Argentina.
Amid the high-profile information, are the several secret records about the military’s involvement in the Papel Prensa case, the forced sale of Argentina’s sole newsprint provider to La Nación, Clarín and La Razón newspapers.
