San Lorenzo hosts Boca in derby
Boca Juniors, without Juan Román Riquelme and Fernando Gago, visits San Lorenzo today in a derby at the Nuevo Gasómetro Stadium. Hernán Encina scored twice for Rosario Central in a 3-2 victory over Atlético Rafaela yesterday.
San Lorenzo and Boca Juniors will face each other today at the Nuevo Gasómetro at 6.15pm in a derby that both teams need to win to get close to leader Newell’s Old Boys.
Carlos Bianchi’s team is third in the Initial Tournament standings with 24 points, while San Lorenzo is fourth with 23. Newell’s, which drew 2-2 with Colón on Friday night, leads with 28 points.
San Lorenzo needs a victory to recover from its 3-2 defeat to Lanús last week and will make one substitution from that team: Pablo Alvarado will replace suspended Mauro Cetto.
Meanwhile, Boca will not count on playmaker Juan Román Riquelme, who had fever during the week, and Fernando Gago, who suffered a leg injury.
After the 2-0 victory over Colón last week, Pablo Ledesma will take Riquelme’s place and Ribair Rodríguez will replace Gago, while Cristian Erbes will play as right-back.
San Lorenzo’s team will be: Sebastián Torrico; Julio Buffarini, Alvarado, Santiago Gentiletti, Walter Kannemann; Juan Mercier, Enzo Kalinski; Leandro Romagnoli, Ángel Correa, Ignacio Piatti; Héctor Villalba.
Boca will play with: Agustín Orion; Erbes, Daniel Díaz, Claudio Pérez, Nahuel Zárate; Ledesma, Jesús Méndez, Rodríguez, Juan Sánchez Miño; Juan Manuel Martínez and Emmanuel Gigliotti.
Also today: Tigre hosts Lanús at 4pm, Vélez visits Quilmes at 6.15 and River plays at home against Estudiantes at 9.15pm.
Rosario Central came from two goals behind to beat Atlético Rafaela 3-2 yesterday at the Gigante de Arroyito stadium in Rosario.
Lucas Albertengo and Uruguayan Diego Vera, with a penalty, scored for the visitors in the 14th and 49th minutes, respectively. Hernán Encina pulled one back in the 53rd after Rafaela’s Esteban Conde blocked a penalty shot from Federico Carrizo and Antonio Medina equalized the game in the 67th.
Conde blocked a second penalty in the 84th, this time shot by Sebastián Abreu. However, Central found the victory three minutes later with another goal from Encina. It was Miguel Ángel Russo’s team third win in a row.
Earlier, Argentinos Juniors hammered Olimpo 4-0 at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium in La Paternal. Hernán Boyero, Daniel Villalva, Juan Ramírez and Enrique Triverio scored for Ricardo Caruso Lombardi’s side. Olimpo finished the game with eight players as Jonathan Blanco, Damián Musto and Fernando Meza were sent off.
