Sabbatella tells Clarín 'comply with the media law'
AFSCA media watchdog chief Martín Sabbatella urged the Clarín media group to comply with the Supreme Court’s verdict that yesterday declared the constitutionality of the Broadcast Media Law.
“Now the law must be comprehensively applied and that involves that all companies in Argentina abide by the law in the same conditions because law is equal for everybody,” Sabbatella told reporters and explained the AFSCA board will be meeting to set the upcoming “steps” and secure the full enforcement of a legislation that remained paralyzed for four years.
In that sense, the official explained Clarín “has sought for mechanisms to evade the law” accusing Argentina’s biggest media group of even ignoring the obligation to adjust its channel guide. “The decision not to comply with the law is evident. The law is constitutional and Clarín, just like everybody else, must comply with it,” Sabbatella insisted.
