'Media Law ruling one of the most important of this Court', Zaffaroni
The Supreme Court Justice Eugenio Zaffaroni described today’s ruling over the Media Law as “one of the most important" made by the maximum judicial authority, adding that he sees the project as key for Argentina's national identity.
Zaffaroni, who along with five of his six colleagues in the Supreme Court voted in favour of the bill today, spoke of the impact that “it will have regarding the way we coexist in the future” that cannot be left “either in monopolistic or oligopolistic hands”, to avoid “cultural suicide”.
The justice said: “Our national culture, Argentine, pluralist and ethnic, is at stake”, and concluded: “The entire law speaks about the right to access information, especially in its political context”.
