'Moved' Mariotto says media law 'mother of all battles'
Buenos Aires province deputy governor and ex-AFSCA media watchdog chief Gabriel Mariotto said he was “moved” by the Supreme Court ruling declaring the constitutionality of the media law, which he considered “the mother of all battles.”
“We are very moved, I even shed a tear,” Mariotto told reporters, speaking about the court decision that declared the validity of the Broadcast Media Law - which will come into force fromtoday.
“It was the mother of all battles. Living in plurality and diversity was a challenge we would not have been able to fulfill. We could either have a dictatorship or a monopoly,” Daniel Scioli’s second-in-command affirmed in reference to the injunctions filed by the Clarín media group since the law was passed by Congress in 2009 blocking its full enforcement.
