Gioja celebrates election result in San Juan
San Juan governor Juan José Luis Gioja, who is still hospitalized following a helicopter crash, celebrated yesterday’s election result in his home province after a positive result for Victory Front candidates.
Mario Gioja revealed that his brother asked for a radio in order to trace after the exit polls.
“José Luis raised his thumb and smiled when we told him the results”, explained Gioja and added that “he did gestures of approbation with his hand and thumb”.
The ruling party reversed the defeat suffered in the PASO Primaries to take 55 percent of the vote, securing two seats in the Lower House as a result. The Federal Commitment party, who had triumphed in August, had to settle for second place with 22.3% of the votes.
Gioja’s condition provoked an atypical election in his province, which included the suspension of the campaign since October 11.
According to medical reports, the Governor suffers from no fever and the infections tests have been negative. However he is still being treated with respiratory assistance in an “uncertain diagnosis”.
