Gioja’s recovery hampered by fever
A new medical report yesterday revealed that San Juan province Governor José Luis Gioja has “suffered new high levels of fever.” Gioja remains hospitalized in serious condition in the intensive care unit of the Guillermo Rawson hospital in the provincial capital city of San Juan.
According to the update, “the symptoms of high fever registered yesterday complicated the withdrawal of the breathing machine.”
As a consequence of repeated fever spikes, doctors decided to conduct complementary medical studies in search of the infected area and detected the presence of liquid in parts of the stomach, where his spleen was removed.
“The doctors also made a puncture” and extracted matter that will be subjected to complementary tests, San Juan’s Public Information Secretariat said yesterday to media.
Despite the fever the provincial head of state is in a stable condition with normal blood pressure and heart beats.
The update also indicated that Gioja is a “reactive and lucid patient,” that he is collaborating with his treatment and highlighted the fact that his kidney‘s situation has been normalized as expected.
Gioja was hospitalized 15 days ago as a consequence of the helicopter crash he was involved in on October 11 in Valle Fértil, allegedly caused by strong winds that pushed the helicopter into power cables. Before it fell, he was flying to San Juan City with a delegation on the campaign trail.
Scioli to visit San Juan
Governor of Buenos Aires Daniel Scioli announced that he will fly today to San Juan to learn more about the health situation of San Juan‘s Governor.
José Luis Gioja was elected as a San Juan province Governor for the first time in 2003. This is his third consecutive term as a governor.
