Three FVP’s activists killed in a crash
A total of three people perished and 23 were injured as a consequence of a crash between a truck and a bus 6 kilometres from Frías city, on the national route 157 in Santiago del Estero province.
According to local fire chief Walter Ahumada, the accident took place around 2.30am when the truck-driver lost control of his vehicle and with its trailer, hit the bus which was moving in the opposite direction.The impact was so violent that the stricken bus ran through the barrier and fell into an empty concrete canal.
As a consequence of the impact an 18-year-old boy and a 56-year-old woman perished instantly. Both were travelling in the bus, which was moving a group of Victory Front force (FpV) supporters, from the closing campaign rally for Kirchnerite candidate Daniel Ojeda in El Alto city, Catamarca province.
Minutes after the severe crash another woman perished at the Frías city hospital, where 23 victims of the accident were taken, hospital director Edgardo Figueroa confirmed.
Five of the victims were moved to a hospital in Santiago del Estero capital due to the severity of their injuries. Two men had traumatic head injuries while one of them suffered multiple fractures in his leg.
The firemen needed mechanical aid to extract passengers from the bus as many of them were trapped between the twisted metal of the vehicle.” Ahumada said.
