Blood in hard disk matches Sarmiento driver's DNA

After Saturday’s Sarmiento crash, blood was found on the hard disk of the train’s cabin. DNA tests have now showed coincidence with driver Julio Benítez who was also found in possession of the device.

Legal situation of Benítez has worsened with his genetic data also matching the blood found in the cabin’s DVR drawer where the hard risk is kept.

In the upcoming hours, federal judge in charge of the Sarmiento crash Ariel Lijo will have to determine whether he prosecutes the driver on theft charges. Police had already found the hard risk in Benítez’s personal belongings following the accident that left 99 people injured. He remains in police custody.
