Boudou: ‘The people are loyal to the President’
Acting president Amado Boudou asserted that the Argentine public was still firmly behind Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, as he celebrated the Peronist 'Day of Loyalty' in the centre of Buenos Aires.
“The people are loyal to the President, and she has an unbreakable commitment to them," the vice-president stated, as he attended the rally outside the Casa Rosada.
Thousands of people gathered in the Plaza de Mayo square to celebrate the “Loyalty Day” and to express their support for the head of state, who was prescribed 30 days of rest due to surgery.
Government officials, unionists and citizens attended the public act, which did not include speeches from political figures. Human Rights representatives like the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo were also among the crowds.
“Today, the square is marked with political loyalty and support for Fernández de Kirchner”, stated Hebe de Bonafini, president of ‘The Mothers’.
“All of us with Cristina” was the emblem for tonight’s act, which commemorated the date where thousands of citizens gathered to demand the liberation of Coronel Juan Domingo Perón in 1945.
