Gioja to be taken off ventilator, governor's brother says
Juan Carlos, brother of San Juan province governor José Luis Gioja who suffered a violent accident on Saturday when the helicopter that was carrying him fell and crashed, told reporters the Kirchnerite leader will be taken off the respirator.
“Thanks God, he has spent a good night. It is the fourth (night) and he has evolved pretty much ok” considering the seriousness of his condition, the governor’s brother said and added the patient shows “no infections.”
“His lungs are ok and he has a strong heart because he has always had healthy habits,” Juan Carlos explained as he announced doctors will be trying to remove the artificial ventilator today.
Latest medical reports at the Guillermo Rawson Hospital in San Juan city said José Luis Gioja presented a “favourable evolution” in his abdomen and an overral "stable" condition.
On Friday 11, Gioja and members of his cabinet and collaborators were flying from the locality of Valle Fértil to the provincial capital when the helicopter that was carrying them lost control due to strong winds and crashed.
