Independiente loses to Alte. Brown
Héctor Carballo scored the winning goal for Almirante Brown in its 1-0 victory over Independiente, which suffered its first defeat since Omar De Felippe took charge of the team.
Independiente lost 1-0 against Almirante Brown in its visit to Isidro Casanova yesterday in a match for the 12th round of the National B Division tournament.
Héctor Carballo scored the winning goal for the host in the 14th minute at the Fragata Presidente Sarmiento stadium.
The team coached by Omar De Felippe, who lost his first match since he took charge of Independiente after three victories and three draws, played again after ten days as its 11th round game against Unión in Avellaneda was suspended.
Independiente, with a game in hand, has 14 points, far from leader Banfield, which has 26. Almirante Brown won its first match at home in the season and now has 15.
Carballo found the ball after some rebounds and scored with a fierce shot. After that, Brown played a defensive style and blocked every attack from its opponents.
It was not the best day for Independiente. Without striker Facundo Parra, who is injured, De Felippe’s side could not find the way to break Brown’s solid defence. Martín Zapata had the best chance to equalize, but his shot hit the crossbar.
Independiente’s team was: Diego Rodríguez; Christian Núñez, Cristian Tula, Claudio Morel Rodríguez, Federico Mancuello; Zapata, Franco Razzotti, Juan Trejo; Daniel Montenegro, Matías Pisano; Cristian Menéndez.
Brown played with: Ezequiel Cacace; Ezequiel Garré, Sebastián Ibars, Carballo, Hernán Ortíz; Sergio Meza Sánchez, Germán Basualdo, Gastón Giménez, Sergio Pérez Visca; Rodrigo Aillapán and Alexis Canelo.
In the Initial Tournament, Argentinos Juniors lost its third match in a row yesterday as it was defeated 1-0 by Atlético Rafaela.
Ricardo Caruso Lombardi’s team, which accumulated five games without victories (four defeats and one draw), is in the relegation zone.
Diego Ferreira provided the victory for Atlético Rafaela in the 31st minute with his goal. Rafaela won its last three matches.
Also, Quilmes defeated Belgrano 1-0 in Córdoba with a goal scored by Alan Alegre in the 28th minute.
Earlier, All Boys and Colón drew 0-0 at the Islas Malvinas stadium in Floresta.
Arsenal de Sarandí and San Lorenzo were playing last night at press time.
