"Wakolda", pre selected to represent Argentina at the Oscars
The Argentine film “Wakolda”, directed by Lucía Puenzo, was pre-selected to represent Argentina at the 2014 Oscars after obtaining 50.43 percent of the votes from the members of the Argentine Arts and Film Academy, winning over “Metegol”, directed by Oscar-winning Juan José Campanella, and “Tesis sobre un Homicidio”, directed by Hernán Godfrid.
The film, starring Natalia Oreiro and Diego Peretti, premiered in the Cannes Festival this year, has been highly praised in San Sebastián and in Biarritz festivals, and can be seen in Argentine theatres.
Lucía Puenzo is the daughter of also film director Luis Puenzo, who won an Academy Award back in 1986 for best foreign language film with “La historia official”.
