Illya Kuryaki land five Grammy nominations
Argentine band Illya Kuryaki & The Valderramas garnered five nomations for the Latin Grammys, the Academia Latina de Artes y Ciencias Musicales reported yesterday.
Illya Kuryaki & The Valderramas are nominated for Best Short Music Video, Best Urban Song (Ula Ula), Best Urban Performance (Amor), Best Alternative Music Album and Best Alternative Song for Monta el trueno. The electrotango ensemble Bajofondo was nominated for Best Album, Best Instrumental Album, and Best Alternative Song (Pena en mi corazón), vying for the same prize against Argentine reggae performers Sig Ragga (Pensando).
Former Los Fabulosos Cadillacs lead singer Vicentico is running for Best Pop-rock albu and Best Rock Song (Creo que me enamoré). Singer-songwriter Fito Páez was nominated for Best Video — Long Take for El amor después del amor 20 años.
