Pope's sister stable, remains hospitalized
Pope Francis’ sister María Elena Bergoglio evolves favorably after suffering a hypertension crisis that has put her in hospital since Saturday. The pontiff closely follows her sister’s condition from the Vatican, the family confirmed.
“She had an isquemic heart disease due to the increase of glucose and blood pressure levels. But she is ok, much better, and we hope she gets back home soon,” María Elena’s nephew Pablo Narvaja told reporters today and added ex Argentine cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio and now Pope Francis “is following her evolution and remains calm, keeping in touch with the family.”
The 66-year old patient –the pontiff’s only surviving sibling- remains hospitalized since the weekend at the Modelo clinic in the Buenos Aires province locality of Morón.
