San Lorenzo loses to Quilmes 3-2
Zubeldía and Brindisi officially out
San Lorenzo lost to Quilmes 3-2 and failed to reach the top of the standings of the Initial Tournament. Borghi and Ischia are the main candidates for replacing Zubeldía in Racing while De Felippe and Romero may take Independiente.
San Lorenzo lost to Quilmes 3-2 yesterday in the closing match of the 4th round of the Initial Tournament at the José Luis Meizzner stadium.
Fernando Telechea opened the scoring for the host in the 6th minute while San Lorenzo’s Gonzalo Verón equalized in the 36th in an outstanding action.
Luciano Abecasis put Quilmes ahead in the 56th and Martín Cauteruccio again levelled the match in the 60th. Arnaldo González scored the winner in the 76th.
San Lorenzo and Quilmes have 6 points with leaders Argentinos and Gimnasia y Esgrima with 9.
Late on Sunday, Boca Juniors lost 2-0 to Estudiantes. Guido Carrillo scored both the La Plata side’s goals.
Meanwhile, Racing and Independiente announced yesterday that their coaches left their posts. Claudio Borghi and Carlos Ischia are the main candidates to replace Luis Zubeldía in Racing. Racing president Cogorno said yesterday at the press conference that manager Roberto Ayala will take the final decision.
Miguel Ángel Brindisi also ended his job as Independiente’s coach yesterday. Former Quilmes coach Omar De Felippe and former All Boys José “Pepe” Romero may replace him according to Independiente president Javier Cantero, who yesterday thanked Brindisi for his work in the club. Independiente failed to win in its first four matches at the National B division with just two draws and two losses.
