Ezeiza prison guard injured after fight with inmate, minister denies riot reports
An Ezeiza prison inmate has been hospitalised for smoke inhalation after burning his mattress and stabbing a Federal Penitentiary Service (SPF) official, who was also treated for minor injuries, police sources informed.
The incident happened few hours after resignation of SPF director, Víctor Hortel, and dismissals of 19 other authorities due to the jailbreak of 13 inmates.
The incident was first believed to be a riot with authorities held hostage, but Justice Minister, Julio Alak, denied reports and clarified: “it was an internal fight provoked by inmates”.
