Mondongo curator Kevin Power dies
British writer-art critic Kevin Power (b. London, 1944), curator of avant garde group Mondongo’s current exhibition at BA’s Museum of Modern Art (MAMBA), has died, museum sources said yesterday. A long-time resident of Spain, where he lived for more than 20 years and developed a vast career in the visual arts through books, articles and curatorial work, and as US literature lecturer at the Universidad de La Laguna and Universidad de Alicante, Power was also a book editor and translator. His compilation books focused on the work of Spanish artists from the 1980s, such as Uslé, Muñoz, Pérez Villalta, Barceló, Broto, Navarro Baldeweg, Quejido and Delgado, setting their output in a context of modern and postmodern philosophical view of the arts. He was a regular contributor to the culture magazines Figura, Arena, Poesía, Revista de Occidente and others.
