Body found after Ecological Reserve fire

Firefighters surveying the scene after a fire in the Costanera South Ecological Reserve discovered human remains in one of the areas affected by the blaze.

According to an official report, a skull, femur, tibia and shin were found around three kilometres from the entrance to the Reserve, and first evaluations estimate that they had been in the area for around two years.

Prosecutor Sandro Abraildes was put in charge of the investigation and ordered the remains to be moved to the morgue so that proper tests could be carried out.

Police sources stated that the bones were found in an area where Thursday's fire claimed a large part of the wild grass previously present, as a result of which the prosecutor ordered a search in the zone in the hope that other parts of the skeleton could be found.
