Truck drivers’ union leader Hugo Moyano affirmed that Monday’s strike “is not against workers” but “against President” Cristina Fernández de Kirchner.

“The President says she will not accept extortions. We tell her that truck drivers will not accept having our salaries stolen anymore,” the also head of the anti-government splinter of the CGT labour confederation told reporters.

Moyano announced Monday’s 24-hour walkout which will involve all freight transport activities yesterday with one main protest slogan: the government’s income tax regime.

“(Fernández de Kirchner) has no idea or is not interested in learning how much it costs for worker to feed his family and which are the prices of the basic basket,” the once ally of the Kirchnerite administration insisted.
