Senate approves Garre's OAS appointment
Senators approved the appointment of ex Security Minister Nilda Garré as Argentina’s ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS) with 40 votes for and 25 against after a long debate in the afternoon. The opposition rejected the government-sponsored move.
Last week, anti-Kirchnerite MPs issued a motion requesting to debate the project back at the Agreements Committee alluding to irregularities in Garré’s sworn declaration and blocking the session.
This time, however, the ruling Victory Front party managed to secure the 37-senator quorum needed to hold the session and pass Garré’s designation at the OAS.
