Crossfire between gov't and farmers as strike continues

Agriculture Minister Norberto Yauhar stated that “the Liaison Board’s business is to generate a feeling of discomfort in society” as he blasted the strike held by farmers since last Saturday.

In an interview to Página 12 newspaper, he reiterated the agricultural sector is seeking to foster the candidacies of opposition leaders for the upcoming mid-term elections “with chaos-based speech.”

He went on to stress that President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner admitted in March 2012 when she inaugurated that year’s ordinary sessions in Congress that “both parts made mistakes during that conflict.”

He added that if farmers “want to talk about it, we can sit and discuss it right now.”
