BA province teachers threat with striking again

The head of Suteba Buenos Aires province teachers' union Roberto Baradel today warned that if the provincial government refuses to come up with a better wage rise offer than the 22.6 percent hike granted by decree, the union is ready to strike again.”

During a press conference, Baradel explained that the mandatory conciliation that was issued by the provincial Labour Ministry on April 22, “will end on May 20 but it can be extended by the provincial Executive branch for another five days and for one time only. Thus, in case we have to take new measures, it would take place once the mandatory conciliation ends.”

“We hope that by that time, they [provincial Government] can come up with a better offer”, Baradel concluded.
