Angry Lorenzino walks out of interview
Economy Minister Hernán Lorenzino faced an awkward situation during an interview he granted to a Greek television network. When asked about Argentina’s inflation statistics, he requested to stop the recording and said he wanted to leave the place.
In the first part of the interview, Lorenzino explained that Argentina's “inflation is registered month after month” by the INDEC statistics and census bureau and that such “official statistics” are the “only possible” figures to be considered.
“The only office with the capacity to measure any statistic is the INDEC that comes under the Economy Ministry,” Lorenzino added.
When the journalist insisted on the inflation query, the Minister excused himself and told his press adviser he wanted to leave the place where the interview was being conducted. He said that the inflation is a “very complex” issue and that he'd rather stopped the interview.
"I want to get out of here," he told an assistant off-camera.
Although Lorenzino was not seen on camera any more, his microphone continued recording his voice.
The interview is said to have been done in December 2012 but the Skai TV Greek channel did not air it untill yesterday when it first came public.
