CFK: 'I won't be complaisant with those who want us to fight each other'

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner said she hopes that on this new anniversary of the military coup that took place on March 24, 1976, people will use it to “understand” and added that her Government does not intend to “fight” with others.

“We must look at this March 24th from a position of understanding, we have to know how to convince the others, and if we can’t convince them, be patient. Because those of us who understand what happened to us are a majority and we will not make the same mistakes,” she stressed.

“We’re not going to fight, we Argentines are going to understand each other once and for all”.

“We cannot be so arrogant as to think that we never make mistakes, because I always say that those responsible for making sure that change and transformation keep moving forward are the ones believe in this transformation the most, therefore they have an obligation to be most understanding.”

She closed by saying she hopes “only the good and the best are able to flourish,” and urged the population to “cast the bad, the ugly and hatred aside.”

As the 37th anniversary of the last military coup nears, the President attended the inauguration ceremony of a new investigation hub in Morón, located on the property where the Mansión Seré clandestine detention center operated.

The ceremony took place at noon at the new Casa de la Memoria y de la Vida, located on Santa María de Oro 3530.

The place operated as a clandestine detention center between 1977 and 1978.

The new “Espacio Mansión Seré” will be a “centre for the interpretation and investigation of our recent history,” official sources indicated.
