BA province teachers begin 48-hour strike
Roberto Baradel.
The Union Front grouping Buenos Aires province teachers will begin a 48-hour strike on Monday as their struggle with the Scioli administration for higher salaries continues.
With no clases on Monday or Tuesday, the strike completes the second 96-hour strike in the 2013 school year approved by the teachers.
Besides the strike, BA province teachers will also march to the Government House in La Plata in rejection of a 22.6 percent salary hike offer offered by the province.
Unions demand at least a 30 percent increase.
The government's original proposal established an 18.6 percent to be applied in two steps: a 12 percent hike in March and 6.6 percent in December.

Last week, the Scioli administration admitted it was mulling the possibility of ordering a mandatory conciliation in order to avoid another 48-hour strike.
