Municipal Mayor: 'Let's kill those who steal'

Villa Gobernador Gálvez Mayor Pedro González

A Victory Front municipal mayor has flared up the debate over crime in Argentina ratifying his support to the death penalty and affirming that the solution to security issues is to “kill all those who steal.”

Pedro González, the mayor of Villa Gobernador Gálvez in Santa Fe, made the sharp remarks while addressing the increase of crime rates in the provincial district during a political rally.

“We need to get out of this mess. How many are those who steal? 20? 30? Well, let´s kill them all and done. We can not go on with this situation,” the official said and reaffirmed his position later when interviewed by a local radio station.

“My political responsibility is more with the neighbours rather than with thieves. We can not live this way. What is the solution? Police is not enough,” González stated and added that no official from the government of Cristina Fernández de Kirchner called him to address the situation.
