'Project X': plaintiff demands inquiry of Garré, Fernández

Ex Justice Minister and current Senator Aníbal Fernández

The controversy over the so called “Project X” –involving the alleged espionage of social, union and political leaders by military police- has reached top kirchnerite officials. The plaintiff has demanded the inquiry of Securiry Minister Nilda Garré and ex Justice Minister and current Senator Aníbal Fernández.

Political and social organizations such as MST, Partido Obrero, Corriente Clasista y Combativa and Liberpueblo lodged a formal complaint to federal judge Sebastian Casanello urging the judicial official to enquiry Garré and Fernández for their “responsibility” in the control of the military police.

The plaintiff’s presentation also stressed that “social organizations, political parties, union leaders, human rights and religious organisms” are being “persecuted, investigated and infiltrated” following evidence on intelligence operations.

However, Security Minister Garré had already rejected similar espionage allegations. In a press conference last year, she affirmed that the Project X was only an “information database” plan used for “criminal intelligence only”.
