Melconian: Inflation 'cause' of teachers' conflict

Economist and PRO Party representative in Buenos Aires Province Carlos Melconian today  addressed the current conflict between the provincial government and education unions targeting high-inflation rates that private-analysts estimate at more than 20 percent.

During an official PRO rally in the provincial district of Lanús, Melconian considered that the education dispute -which has left 4 million children without classes over the past weeks - is a “direct result” of inflation and warned that 2012 final rates will be the floor for this year´s trends.

The PRO-alligned economist also affirmed that Argentina “needs a fairer federal system” that ensures “political and economic autonomy” to governors.

“Today, kids in the provinceare left without classes because they are in the middle of a bid between the national and provincial governments”, Mecolnian added.
