Macri reopens Subte A Line along with Randazzo

Buenos Aires City Mayor Mauricio Macri headed the reopening ceremony of the Subte A Line, along with city officials and Interior and Transport Minister Florencio Randazzo.

Macri assured during the ceremony that he hopes "this is the beginning of a new era" regarding the relationship between the national and city government.

"People travelling in better conditions can't be the responsibility of only one government, it's everybody's responsibility," the city Mayor continued.

He believes that "a complex transport system is the one from the Metropolitan area, and it requires coordinated efforts" between City and Nation.

"We'll keep on working. I really hope we found an agenda in common," the Mayor concluded.

The PRO party head had officially invited President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner to participate in today’s event. However, news about the death of Venezuelan leader Hugo Chávez forced her to travel to Caracas and appoint Randazzo to be present at the re-inauguration of the service that runs between the Plaza de Mayo and Carabobo stations

The Subte A Line remained suspended for 54 days to replace the 100-year old subway cars with Chinese air-conditioned units.
