Gas leak on 9 de Julio Av. 'under control'

Gas-pipe rupture causes delays on 9 de Julio avenue

After 18 hours of delays following the rupture of a gas pipe on the 9 de Julio Av., Metrogas spokesman Jorge Montanari confirmed that authorities had managed to “control the situation”.

An excavating machine working on the 9 de Julio Av., where the Metrobus transport system will be implemented by the City government, ruptured a gas-pipe yesterday and caused a gas leak near the avenue’s cross section with Alsina street.

According to police sources, the rupture caused the area to be evacuated and created traffic chaos for commuters.

Although Metrogas workers have already managed to replace the gas-pipe, Montanari told reporters it will now take more time to complete the construction works.
