Videla, Bignone to face 'Cóndor Plan' Trial

Former dictators Jorge Rafael Videla and Reynaldo Bignone will be put on trial next Tuesday for their alleged involvement in the so called “Cóndor Plan” carried out by South American military dictatorships during the 70´s and 80’s.

De-facto governments of Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Bolivia, Perú and Paraguay took part in the “Cóndor Plan.” Secret documents unveiling joint actions have being found in these countries.

Ex Interior Minister during Argentina´s bloody military regime Albano Harguindeguy and former head of the third Corpse of the Army, Luciano Benjamín Menéndez, are also scheduled to go on trial next week.

Menéndez, Videla and Bignone have already been sentenced to life imprisonment for crimes against humanity.
