Teachers fail to agree on BA province's proposal

The head of SUTEBA, Roberto Baradel, after the encounter with provincial authorites.

Buenos Aires province teachers rejected a new proposal presented by provincial authorities during today's meeting over wage talks.

Mirta Petroccini, from the FEB union, assured that the "proposal doesn't reach an 18 percent hike." Tomorrow they will hold a march to protest and on Friday they will decide in an assembly how they will carry on.

Secretary General of SUTEBA union had anticipated that the teachers claim a 30 percent hike. "We don't foresee what's the proposal going to be, we are going for the 30 percent hike. We'll first see what's the offer and then see," the union leader assured.

Besides, he ratified that they will meet on Friday to decide "if there's a new strike on the next Monday or Tuesday. I hope we solve this."
