'At least someone talks to me,' Macri responds to gov't official

Buenos Aires city Mayor Mau-ricio Macri responded ironically to a letter he received on part of the Tecnópolis Science and Technology exhibition centre organizers over the tree-cutting controversy that begun after he defended the felling of trees on the 9 de Julio avenue by saying that the government had cut down many more when constructing the centre.

The letter rejected accusations Macri had made, saying that they had cut more than 1,000 trees to create the centre with the title of the text, sardonically stating “the 2,936 trees are fine” in reference to the number of trees on the government property.

Macri said sarcastically that the letter compensated for the lack of communication with President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. “At least this is something: someone aligned with the government is speaking to me,” said the Mayor. He added that he resented government accusations of being a liar.
