'No-one 100 percent safe from crime,' Security Minister says

Security Minister Nilda Garré said today that “no one has guaranteed personal safety" and that "anyone" can be victim of a criminal act, referring to what happened to his counterpart in the BA province, Ricardo Casal, who suffered a rob attempt at his home in La Plata city.

In addition, Garré said that "the media increases the concern over the issue as they promote permanently and massively the bloodiest, most terrible and violent events that take place."

"Mass media makes one feel insecure everywhere", the Minister said in an interview with FM radio Vorterix.

Likewise, Garré stressed that “Insecurity is a problem that sensitizes people. Citizens safety is a right and the State must guarantee it."

Yesterday, Buenos Aires provincial Security Minister Ricardo Casal was almost robbed by two thieves in the City Bell district of La Plata, Buenos Aires.

Buenos Aires governor Daniel Scioli described the event as a “frustrated robbery.” The two criminals fled the scene when a bodyguard caught them in the act.
