Gov't sets 22% wage hike for teacher unions

The national goverment set the wage increase to teachers in 22 percent, which will be paid in three instalments, and thus concluded the sector’s 2013 collective bargaining.

As wage talks ended, Education Ministry sources said that the increase will begin to be paid in March salaries and will represent a 22 percent hike by February 2014. A teacher in a single shift will earn 3416 pesos.

Sources added that the national government is committed to assist those provinces who can’t pay the 3416 pesos ,inimum wage by means of the national teachers wages fund.

Meanwhile, the teachers union which took part of the meeting –Ceteram Amet, Sadop and CEA were dissatisfied with the accord because it did not meet their demands
