Moyano launches political party
Dissident CGT umbrella union leader Hugo Moyano is creating a new political party called “Party for Culture, Education and Work” (CPCEyT), it was announced yesterday.
The party will be based in Buenos Aires province, and will seek to present candidate lists for the October legislative elections in order to present an alternative to President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner’s Victory Front (FpV) party.
This announcement was confirmed by former deputy Octavio Arguello, who is the legal representative of the party, which is based at the teamster and allied labour union headquarters.
Arguello stated that even though Moyano will be the leader of this new party he was leaving open the possibility of forming alliances with other Peronist factions and that there is a good possibility that the labour union leader would eventually run for president.
Caló’s CGT to meet today
The government-allied CGT labour union group led by Antonio Caló is meeting today to analyze how the President’s latest government measure announcements such as the income tax floor raise and the two-month price freeze on supermarkets will affect collective bargaining.
Private Healthcare Workers Association (ATSA) spokesman Héctor Daer said that the results obtained from past meetings they had with the government was “not what we had hoped for” and that several issues still need to be resolved.
