CFK announces end of repair works on Sarmiento train line
President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner regretted that damage perpetrated by “vandals” to trains and train stations, as she pointed out that “we complain about the way we travel, but we break the things that are useful to us.”
After holding up a series of photographs depicting vandalized train cars and train stations, she said that “this hurts thousands of people and workers”, and urged consumers and users to “intervene when they witness things like these take place.”
Her statements, which she made from the Government House, were made during the announcement of the conclusion of the maintenance work on the Sarmiento line.
Cristina also warned that “we will use all our capabilities to make sure that trains receive maintenance work in the future”, and urged consumers and users to “look after the trains because they belong to them”.
The head of state insisted on the need of a “democratization” of the justice system, and assured that “when it comes to punishing the Government and taking government officials to trial there is a long line of prosecutors, but when it comes to corporations, no one speaks up.”
