CFK hits back at IMF

Cristina Fernández de Kirchner hit back at the International Monetary Fund today following it decision to sanction Argentina for its lack of credibility regarding official statistics.

“Where was the IMF that was unable to warn of any crisis? Where was it when not a bubble, but full-on financial ballooning took place?” the president said today, via her Twitter account.

“The first measure the IMF took was to go against Argentina,” she said.

“Argentina. An example student of the IMF in the 90s which everyone followed and as soon as everything exploded in 2001, they let go of its hand.”

Furthermore, the head of state went over the history of the relationship between Argentina and the Fund from the Washington Consensus and concluded that currently “Argentina is a bad word for the global financial system.”

“IMF+FBI against Argentina,” the president wrote on her Twitter page. She later cleared up that she was not referring to the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the United States, but the “International Vulture Funds.”
