Gov't assures power cuts are to be 'reduced drastically'

Power cuts have been affecting the entire city due to the intense heatwave that hit the capital and surrounding areas in the last week.

Following various protests carried out yesterday because of widespread power cuts, Planning Minister Julio De Vido came on stage today to confirm that there are “1,500” users without power in the city, but assured that in the course of the first semester of the year “power cuts are going to be hugely reduced.”

“Right now there are 521 confirmed customers who are currently without power, which could in many cases be shared – taking the number up to 1,500 users,” in the capital city, De Vido said today in a radio interview.

The minister explained to reporters that in November, the government started “many works” using funds acquired by the raise in utility tariffs, in order to better the service.

“There are some distribution problems and we are working to push through them with works in place in Colegiales, Almagro, Caballito and in Lugano, Mataderos,” he said.
