Macri stands by Del Sel after CFK joke
Buenos Aires City Mayor Mauricio Macri yesterday expressed his support for Miguel del Sel, after the comedian made strong statements against President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, and acknowledged that “he (Del Sel) made a mistake” in his statements.
“Miguel del Sel told a joke, he made a mistake, and he apologized. That shows that he is a good person,” wrote Macri on the micro-blogging website Twitter.
The centre-right PRO party leader added that “there are some who lie and verbally attack Argentines everyday and never apologize.”
Comedian Del Sel took part in Jey Mammon’s play and during an interview on stage said that if the opportunity arose of meeting the President, he would write on her forehead, among other things, “sanctimonious old bag.” Later, he apologized for his words to “the President and women” in general.
City Cabinet Chief Horacio Rodríguez Larreta said “although Del Sel is a good comedian, that does not justify the insult,” adding that Kirchnerite officials often attack Macri and never apologize for it.
