Racing member found dead at club's pool
A member and journalist of Racing Club was found dead at the pool of the club's headquarters located in Villa del Parque neighbourhood, Buenos Aires City, and police sources reported that he had a blow in his head.
The mysterious death investigated by the Federal Police occurred early this morning at the headquarters located at Nogoyá Street.
Investigators were trying to determine if it was an accident or a crime, due to the bump found in the victim's head.
Police sources and club authorities identified the victim as Nicolás Pacheco (32), journalist who ran the website named "Racing o Nada" and produced a programme of the club in the AM890 radio.
Pacheco arrived last night to the club to participate in a barbecue that lasted until this morning. Sources stated that Pacheco's friends were the ones who noticed his absence and were searching for him, and found him at 6:30 am inside the pool. A friend of his jumped into the water, as the others called an ambulance, but he was already dead.
Pacheco was only wearing his underwear, and the investigators' attention was focused in the blow in his head. "He has a weird bump, with blood, in his head," one of the investigators said after examining the body at the crime scene.
The police is awaiting the autopsy results to determine if he drowned or he had hurt this head in other circumstances. They are also investigating what happened during the barbecue and how the young man appeared dead at the club's pool.
"His friends are being questioned. Apparently, he went alone to the pool area and he was later found dead, but it's under investigation and all the hypothesis are being analyzed," the police chief told the press.
The head of the Villa del Parque headquarters, Rubén Guevara, stated that Pacheco was "a beloved person for the club," and confirmed he was "member and club's journalist."
