Malvinas War ship sinking at Navy base

Missile destroyer ARA "Santísima Trinidad," used in the Malvinas War and out of service since 2004, moored at the Puerto Belgrano Navy base, is currently leaning to port and under the risk of sinking.

The Navy reported that the vessel "presented a heel to the port due to a breakdown in the hull," after a "six inches tear, that led to the entrance of an important amount of water into it."

Sources stated that the "Santísima Trinidad" was surpised this morning leaning against a fishing boat.

After the vessel was retired, a small crew remained on board as guards.

"The situation remains under control, and we'll work in order to stabilize its buoyancy," the reported concluded.
