Necochea mayor suspended, pending impeachment

The Necochea Municipal Council decided to suspend the city’s mayor, Horacio Tellechea, and scheduled a new session on February 8th to discuss his possible removal from office.

The Victory Front mayor is currently under investigation by a parliamentary committee over alleged irregularities discovered in the purchase of medical machinery for the Municipal Hospital with subsidies from the National Government.

Tellechea made the headlines last week after being widely criticized for attending the city’s inauguration ceremony of an above ground canvas swimming pool.
