Nalbandian confirms he will play Davis Cup
David Nalbandian confirmed today that he will play against Germany for the first round of the Davis Cup, and thus dismissed fears of a serious injury. He clarified that he has some discomforts that are normal during training season, but downplayed their seriousness.
Argentina will face Germany on February 1-3 at the Mary Terán de Weiss stadium in Parque Roca.
“I have certain discomforts, but they are normal during training season. They are nothig,I’ll surely play,” the tennis player told reporters.
Argentine team captain Martín Jaite’s feud with Juan Martín Del Potro caused the Argentine top seeded to drop out of the Davis Cup for all of 2013, while Eduardo Schwank has a double injury on his right wrist and won’t play either. Leonardo Mayer (burn), Carlos Belocq and Juan Mónaco have not confirmed whether they will make it to the team, either.
