Anonymous Argentina hacks INDEC website
The hackers collective Anonymous attacked the INDEC national statistics website in protests of the recently released official inflation rate numbers.
“They lie to the people but the people are true to their word,” the organization posted on its Twitter account, along with several other messages.
“We have left the INDEC out of service and it will remain like this for a while. Is this a joke? People can eat with $5.50 now, when it used to be $6?”, the tweet read.
“Let’s stop the INDEC’s lies,” the said after pointing out that the website had been under their control for over three hours and assuring that they would return it “when they understand that the lies have to stop.”
The INDEC recently reported that inflation in Argentina reached 10.8 percent, which represents less than half the rate estimated by private consulting agencies, close to 25 percent.
