CFK thanks Indonesia for backing Malvinas claims

President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner pictured today alongside Susilo B. Yudhoyono of Indonesia after a private meeting with the leader. CFK is currently on a Middle Eastern and Asian tour.

After a private meeting today with Indonesian president Susilo Yudhoyono, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner publicly thanked Indonesia for its support “regarding the Malvinas,” renewing that Argentina “only asks that the UK respect the UN resolution.”

“I want to thank Indonesia and its people for their constant support over the Malvinas,” Fernández de Kirchner said to Yudhoyono in a press conference today.

“We don’t pretend to push any kind of criteria, but simply start to comply with the rules of the game and respect the resolutions of the United Nations,” the Argentine head of state said, before leaving the Credential Hall at the Jakarta governmental palace.

The speech was made just after the leaders held a meeting at the Indonesian government palace, where they discussed the two countries exchange regarding commerce, such as agriculture, tourism, bioenergy, transport, sports, health and education.
